Mr. Gabriele Barbato appointed new EPES Principal! - 2017
Gabriel Barbato, Eagle Point Elementary School’s new principal, is returning to his roots.
Barbato grew up on Beacon Avenue and attended P.S. 27, now Eagle Point Elementary School. His appointment as Eagle Point’s principal was approved by the Albany Board of Education on July 13.
“It’s great to come back home, to come back to the place where it all started for me,” he said recently.
Barbato spent the last 16 years working in the Schenectady City School District, six as an administrator. He was assistant principal at Schenectady High School for five years and was the instructional supervisor for Howe Elementary School for the past year. He also taught fourth grade, sixth grade and GED test prep classes and was a technology specialist for the Schenectady district.
He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from The College of Saint Rose. He also earned his administrative certification at Saint Rose.
